Genesis, 2010

A.D. Jordan sheds light on the blot of the human fear of dying. She tries to make the impossible happen, to visualize the invisible matrix of how things works. Genesis (2010) exemplifies this notion, by representing the decay of life and death as a metaphor. The body disintegrates, but its subject dissolves not in nothing, but decomposes into molecules and atoms. The soul does not consist of atoms. Thus it cannot be dissolved or transformed, also not by death. It remains an individual, a mental nature, personally immortal. In the lower part a dead pigeon is appropriated for the installation. A garnet apple tree is implanted last.

Exhibited at OF bodies chang’d to various forms, I sing… at cubus-m Gallery, Berlin, 2014, curated by Pauline Doutreluingne.
