„If the foundation is uneven, then the wall will never be straight,“ so says an Afghani proverb. „Stones from Kandahar - TLS - Taliban Last Stand, 2013-2014, allows to speak as witnesses. The stones are originally from KAF (Kandahar Air Field), the U.S military base in Afghanistan. KAF is nit Afghanistan; it is considered American land, the last refuge in which the final major battle took place. The stones bear witness to the preceding and continuing conflict. They tell the story of the war and carry the marks of it with them. They expose one of many stories, which took place in the past and transport the stories to the viewer in the present, In the Installation „Stones from Kandahar - TLS“ the stones are rubbed together mechanically, producing dust. The dust becomes a bridge for perceiving, a symbol of a long process.
