Dimension: Urban Intervention

At the Haus der Kulturen der Welt Berlin, she realized in collaboration with the artist Shira Wachsmann, the project Metrotopie (2011), a challenging encounter between urbanity, man and nature. In a symbolic gesture, she converted a S-Bahn tramcar into an urban habitat, with abundant plant-life from various locations around the world. Public transport as a medium and carrier of urban history and personal stories generates lines of energy within the urban space. The travelling eco-system symbolizes supplying Berlin and its inhabitants with the primal energy Qi. Train passengers encountered the subway car whose interior had become a garden, an artificial biotope. The garden, intended to travel through the city, signified the communicative energy of passengers, nature, and the city, and at the same time expressed the lifecycle.
